I agree with @pior on this. Whilst I understand your enthusiasm for Zbrush(I love modeling using Zmodeler)but, when it comes down to the serious aspect of pushing out assets as quickly and cleanly as possible I will use whatever tool is best for the job: be it Zbrush and all the tools it offers, or my workhorse, 3dsMax.…
haha yeah it's a tad bit on the noisy side, but why try to perfect on something you're just trying out. Keep up with the mini tutorials! Looks like it's turning out nicely :D
Oh my sorry for the late reply. Heres a mini-tut for 3ds max that can be done in maya. It basically creates a "shell" outside of the mesh and the faces are flipped inwards with the material you want your outline to have. Not really for real-time rendering stuff since it doubles polycount but it works great for presentation!
Thanks phillipk, awesome points, I'll definately use your advice, especially the vertex painting and seperating out the materials. Your tuts should help :) and thanks again to delirium, really good advice. :) and JO420- I'll get kicking on it tomorrow, night. its 4:40am here and time for bed. I need to get out of that 'no…
Sure (very nice mini tut btw ;) ) here is small chart and here are meshes: (weird is, for second bug you need to load (any) normal map into normal slot, otherwise problem wont occur, also marmo1 did this with same mesh) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/62830198/forums/marmobug.rar
I've been using the max skin mirroring and skin wrapping tools quite a bit recently. Are there any tutorials out there for them, or would it be worth me taking an hour some day to write some? The max website has good video tuts, but they are missing some stuff that experience brings. I'm sure Dave Kings knowledge would…
This thread is weirdly therapeutic. It is so incredibly frustrating to be stuck in a rut. I feel like I am in a cave blindly scrabbling to get out, yelling into the darkness I WILL NOT GIVE UP! Or like you're trying to move forwards, but you're in honey, and everyone around you are walking on moving walkways. But remember,…
Here are my final shots. Haven't done too much more than when I posted last, but thought I'd show a bit more behind it. I should note that the sky is not mine. I pulled a default from udk. My interpretation of the space was that these were storage bays for some sort of futuristic data cores. The red devices act as lifts to…
Hey guys! I just stumbled upon another cool use for a piece of hardware I've had for awhile and thought I'd share. I've had a cheap $60 mini drum pad (you can get a cheaper one for $35, posted at the bottom of this post) I use for working with music and found a program that can remap the midi inputs to any combination of…
I work in the same building that Total A was made in, MANY MANY MOONS ago, so everyone here has a bit of bot love, myself included. Of course Cave Dog is long gone but we still have a few old timers kickin around and every once in a while a server goes up. My cubemates and I talked about it and this is what we came up…
