Seems like viewing object space normal maps in marmoset already works ok, so it would be really nice to get the option to paint/edit them in the painting tools. Doesn't seem like there's anyway to do that currently unless I'm missing something. At least not in a way were you can get a live preview of their effect.
$1200 can buy you a computer that will do absolutely everything you want for 3d work, $1500 will buy you a monster of a system that will treat you well for a few years before you even think about upgrading. $3000 means you're buying top of the line shit, paying much more for only marginal performance gains. Look into…
HA HA!!!! Very good question sir. We actually use an in-house script that we lovingly call the Auto-Normaliser. It actually breaks the vertex normal and manipulate them to our liking. but the tool does more than that. it remembers, forever, the selection of chamfer on a given assets, then, you can add or subtract from that…
Sorry for the lack of details, I've been bussy working on the trims and textures. Here it is a quick update: Basically, what I did first was in photoshop create a 2048x2048 document, in Edit/Precerences/Guides,Grid & Slices I set up the gridline at 64 pixels (also changed the colour) and 1 subdivision. Then when I press…
Great work on the model! Your animation needs work. I know you said you haven't really animated before, so here's a quick and dirty lesson. *EDIT: Just took a look at you rig on the last page. You may want to consider giving her at least 1 more joint in her back to give a cleaner twist and bend. EDIT* Okay, one thing to…
Hey guys, thanks for the heads up on marmoset leleusart. I'll be sure to check it out ASAP. As far as I understand UE4 imports it as default linear/sRGB, however something I forgot to mention in the tutorial is you must change some photoshop settings. edit> color settings. RGB: RGB needs to be set to sRGB Gray: Gray Gamma…
-At the bottom of the projection modifier enabled "shaded" first (makes it more clear) -Then the little arrrow next to "Push - amount", slide that up untill the cage encompasses the highpoly. (you never want your cage to be 100% even/flush with the highpoly/lowpoly). (if you have shaded on, it will give a good view of it)…
Scene Size: The file size would probably only be that large if everything still has it's modeling history intact. You'll want to select anything static and hit the Freeze button (lower right corner, under Edit). For anything that is weighted to a rig, you'll want to hit the FreezeM button in order to keep the envelope…
MoP, how your company does it may be fine. You may very well have great practices for how you dole out art tests. But, you aren't the only company around. If all companies followed your three cases there'd be a lot less tests given out. The problem is that a lot of companies don't. Some will throw out an art test to…
[ QUOTE ] Isn't there a DVD as well? The DVD alone is worth $10. [/ QUOTE ] Nah, the extra DVD was not all that interesting. Though the mural was badass...even if they never did show a close up...or even a full still shot, pfft. I almost wanted to vomit when I was given the information about CliffyB and his girlfriend…
