I think you have the crack patterns pretty well down, but if you're going for something with more depth as in the thing on the right, wouldn't you want to move it down a bit at the major points of impact / collapse? That way you can have pieces jutting up or being sunken further down... it sounds like that is what you're…
So after 11 consecutive weeks of sculpting a character per week to push myself, I've run into a wall. I knew I hit that creative wall when this past weekend I couldn't sculpt a face to save my life :poly119:. I pushed through it but wasn't 100% satisfied. I've decided to take a step back from sculpting for a little…
In regards to offshore drilling, I don't think its about new places to drill or destroying our environment or any of that crap. While I do particularly enjoy nature and all of its stuff, the problem is practicality. It will take close to a decade before this "new oil" becomes available for us to use, and if we are going to…
Thank you for the suggestions! I actually started with porthole windows, but opted for larger ones to add more color to the scene. but I totally get your point, I will take another look to see if I can get a more aquatic feeling solution. The reference you provided is super helpful. I have been getting more comfortable…
Usually this type of stuff is set dressing added on top of more clean and generic tiling textures. Decals or mesh decals, scattered rubble, vertex painting, etc.
Just thought I should mention that if you buy an educational licence of modo for two years you can upgrade to a full licence for $395. This way, you can get the full package for $700. Unfortunately, this option is only viable to students who have at least two years more ahead of them, but its still a darn good deal.
For what it's worth... I just scoured the internet for the best retail Zbrush deal and asked Jeff Meeker @ simulistic.com to match the offer. ( which he did because he is supercool and an authorized reseller of just about everything ) http://simulistic.com/ If u r in DC or Maryland use an outside state fer billing or he…
Hello! Yeah this is my first project in unreal which I spent the last couple of months on. I'm not new to 3D as I've worked in VFX for film and tv for the last few years, but would like to try making a move towards games. The aim of this project was to hit on a few key things. I wanted to show use of Trim Sheets, Modular…
Still working on it. Been a busy month had to put it on a side for a bit, but will have much more time now, so should wrap it up soon. All the props and materials are pretty much in place (missing some debris and some decals) now its mostly only polish and lighting that is left. Also, were learning a bit of foliage…
I don't think its quality drop exactly. My idea is that "photo-real" on realtime rasterizing engine whatever advanced it might be still requires certain level of special visual style , an art transformation of reality . Not like usual stylized hand-painted games, typical for mobile games but still lots of show vs hide…
