I think there's a common conceit that art is an "appearance" thing only in a game, where code "actually changes how stuff works". So there's this long running notion that only changing how the game looks doesn't mess with the game mechanics. It's stupid, but my impression is that's the root of it.
Heyo its time for a foliage pass! Here's some small leafy twigs that I will be using for small shrubs or debris. I still need to do fern leaves, some hanging moss, and dangling roots. These will all be baked onto a texture sheet for use on planes

The answer is basically not to worry about it and use as much as you need. Premature optimisation is the root of all evil! If you want to be more systematic, you can use texel density as a guide for how to scale your islands and when to split them to a new textureset. Usual benchmarks are 10.24-20.48px/cm.
Does anyone know how to properly rig a weapon for centaur? When I bind my weapon to his weapon bone it seems to just be bound to the root bone on import. I have never had any problems like this with any other heroes/items. Does anyone have any experience with centaur weapons?
Hey Guys, I did 3 handpainted textures. I was inspired by antonioneve's grass texture, and did my own take on it. You may recognize the root texture from darksiders 2 ;) , I realized that half way through. Hope you guys like it, and critique is much appreciated!! Happy texture painting! Tim
I've made a idle flying angel animation using xtra bones using 3ds max biped, attached to the spine using the xtra bones box with an arrow on it and by connecting them in skematic view. When I import the Animation into UDK the Wings attach themselves to the root of the biped. Please, how do I fix this?
I agree with Brad and Rice, the UV's need some work and the WOW style involves bigger shapes and more lighting information. I do like the texture wip and the organic flow of the tree, though I think you should break up the roots a bit.
still looking for feed back added a few grass vines and roots to him wanted opinions if its to much or just right, and removed lip detail seeing if less is more planning to head toward colors and finishing soon thanks if your able to take a look
