Good afternoon, Is it okay to apply materials to some parts of a model, and textures to others? I'm creating a high-quality metronome, and it would be great if I could just apply a metal material to some parts, and only texture three of the parts (like the wood). Is this okay to do and still consider it a good quality…
@Stevston, i dont think he needs to make such slopes on this mesh, as the mesh itself is sloped compared to the indets, so the rays will have a slight angle to them. As for the floating mesh, how about "just" making it a part of the sword itself? I'm rather impressed that you did that highpoly in 27 minutes, well done :o
From your description, my guess would be they want to see if you can maintain a consistent quality with the two objects and have them play nice together. Take your time and work smart. Try not to end up in a situation where one part of the test is completely overdeveloped and the other suffers greatly for it. Good luck! :)
Posting a mood board that shows the style I can find. I am still gathering and coming up with the references for the individual elements of each armor/clothing part, such as for the head, arms, legs and torso/body whole. Hope to post more soon B)
Created an environment based off of a referenced drawn by Anya Jo Elvidge! Follow this link to her website: http://anyatheartist.com/ This was most definitely a challenge with many moving parts, but I had so much fun adding my own spin to it!
I know there is a ID map in substance painter, but it seems like I have to paint whole mesh only on a single texture... am I missing something????? How can I paint a mesh with multiple parts? ( one basecolor texture for head part, and another for body part.. etc..)
Posts definitely look better now with sig part and name part having a noticeably darker shade than the main part. Edit: btw, i still see names and ranks in all caps.
The difference is that in one case, the concave and convex parts are encoded in 2 different color channels, while the greyscale one encode concave parts in the 0-127 range and the convex parts in the 128-255 range.
