Looks pretty cool man! I'm just starting in UE4 as well and I've run into a lot of weird light baking glitches too. Sometimes checking the Lightmaps in the object editor can show if they are properly laid out since Unreal automatically arranges them based on the existing UVs. You can always add a second UV channel from…
So Ive bee working on some stuff and have run into some issues. The biggest being that the export doesnt seem to work right. When Im in 3do and finally have what I like, I hit the export button in the top left corner (is there a different to export that Im not seeing?) and get an export dialogue. When I enter in what I…
Hi. You should put a character next to these to see how big the triangles are relative to the character to really be able to tell if they are too big. The triangulation appears like this , because of a setting called shadow bias. Set it higher, and the shading will get softened.
Thanks so much for your replies everyone! AndrewHelenek - What importer are you referring to? Spudnik - Luckily I am running 32 bit Maya2013, so that should have worked great! However I'm also running Windows XP, so what happened was when I went to run the runmaya_2013.bat file, I got an error saying that maya wasn't…
Sorry I've taken a bit to respond. So, my baking process is this: I have the full low poly, and I offset the mirrored UV's 1 space over. I make sure that I have no inverted faces in the UV (aside from the mirrored ones obviously), and I've reset all xForms. I then set up my cage (With export and import cage in Max), and I…
1. Taking very small kids out anywhere is a crapshoot (no pun intended). You never know when something is going to set them off and the day will be blown. On the other hand, I've experienced the same thing with teenagers in tow also. The infancy of the home video rental business and the infancy of my children coincided.…
One thing I notice is that you have your roughness set up as glossyness so you're using a 1minus node to get it back to the correct range when you're not using vertex colors. (also this will break and give likely unexpected results if your "glossyness" multiplier ever goes over 1, as it will result in negative values for…
I was in the same boat as you, needed to make a site and really wanted to keep the url simple and without .wordpress or .webs etc in the name so i got my domain name and my hosting all set up and did what was in my best interest - i learned dreamweaver, or at least enough to get me by and get a functional site i knew…
Your scene lacks contrast. The first time off you were going for a sunset feel, I think that you need a strong directional light with a tint of orange and have the ambient lighting of the dark areas set to a subtle blue-ish colour to avoid blackening of shadowed areas. Have a look at references of lighting, even from your…
Seems like you've bitten off more than you can chew to be honest. I can assure you that painter works. I look after a lot of users (over 50) of varying experience and they all manage to get passable results out of it. baking is not straightforward in any software - tearing into something complicated before having a solid…
