Hi! Multiple ways to get a gradient mask across meshes, to then use in the shader to modulate values/colors. For example the gradient could be stored in a UV set, vertex color, generated from the y-pos in the shader, ... The way to go is something you have to decide on.
Fair enough but then what do you do when you don't have MD at a studio? good luck if you've never sculpted folds from scratch. Not only do you need the experience of how cloth drapes but HOW to actually sculpt that accurately. You're just not going to be able to do this well if you focuz solely on using MD. Again, if you…
I know what you mean, trying to get a picture of your full kismet or shader tree is a real pain. But I think I saw someone who made a macro script which took the pictures and move the screen. I'll try to see if I can find it when I get home. Btw, you might want to try and see if you can make the pictures of the kismet and…

Looks pretty cool man! I'm just starting in UE4 as well and I've run into a lot of weird light baking glitches too. Sometimes checking the Lightmaps in the object editor can show if they are properly laid out since Unreal automatically arranges them based on the existing UVs. You can always add a second UV channel from…
Hi. You should put a character next to these to see how big the triangles are relative to the character to really be able to tell if they are too big. The triangulation appears like this , because of a setting called shadow bias. Set it higher, and the shading will get softened.
So Ive bee working on some stuff and have run into some issues. The biggest being that the export doesnt seem to work right. When Im in 3do and finally have what I like, I hit the export button in the top left corner (is there a different to export that Im not seeing?) and get an export dialogue. When I enter in what I…
One thing I notice is that you have your roughness set up as glossyness so you're using a 1minus node to get it back to the correct range when you're not using vertex colors. (also this will break and give likely unexpected results if your "glossyness" multiplier ever goes over 1, as it will result in negative values for…
I was in the same boat as you, needed to make a site and really wanted to keep the url simple and without .wordpress or .webs etc in the name so i got my domain name and my hosting all set up and did what was in my best interest - i learned dreamweaver, or at least enough to get me by and get a functional site i knew…
Your scene lacks contrast. The first time off you were going for a sunset feel, I think that you need a strong directional light with a tint of orange and have the ambient lighting of the dark areas set to a subtle blue-ish colour to avoid blackening of shadowed areas. Have a look at references of lighting, even from your…
