Hi I'd like some feedback and advice regarding my generated and baked hair. I've followed two courses now - one by Johan Lithvall and another by Andre Pires, which is a very similar workflow to Johan's. However, with the hair I've made, and since, mine always looks like straw. :-\ I've even tried adjusting the shader in…
Using generic reference you can zoom and rotate around helps. Daz 3d is a good program to have on a screen next to you while you work. You can dial in physical attributes to suit what you are after. You pretty much want to avoid doing too much work at the top level of subdivision initially, as its hard to control the mesh…
red barrels are doing extremely well with their outlast franchise, a small studio and super profitable apparently. but then again, it was formed by a small group of industry vets with tons of experience at larger studios. not just 1 person but the initial studio size was a small team.
My blockout attempt on the main building using perspective match in 3DSMax to get the correct proportions after my 1st MK1 eyeball attempt was a disaster. More challenging than I initially thought. This has a lot of subtle shape changes.
As this obviously confuses people like me and @Shrike and probably also future readers I made a proper image: The first and initial issue was in the blue marked area where the baker missed the highpoly due to being off-center compared to the lowpoly:
The next thing to do is decimate my mesh and move it into polygonal software like Max or Maya. I'm going to decimate and move into Maya initially to start building the accessories. Here I have moved the mesh into Maya ready to start building.
Thank you! Went ahead and pushed the blockin a bit further today. Still very rough tho I decided to get a bit away from the initial concept to add a bit more story telling to the piece. Any feedback is welcome!
I have not entirely ruled out adding some plant life to break it up but at the moment I'm using the reference more for basic layout and feel, And attempting to create a more interesting architectural style and color palette than that of the initial reference.
@jose.fuentes thank you for the feedback . i will try to rework on it . i also started a new character which is in its initial stage can you please give some feedback on that too . https://polycount.com/discussion/209220/camping-girl#latest
Congratulations mate.:) I wouldn't worry too much about moving faster within the company initially. Spend some time finding your feet, adapting from being away from home and just getting use to your environment.
