Ok, usually I am good with extracting things in photoshop using the pen or lasso tool etc. I am curious as to the way most people extract images for texturing like leaves and bushes etc? I tried the extract tool and get crap results. I use the magic wand with thresholds set etc and get crap results. I tried using a way in…
Hello fellow Polycounters! This is my first post on here and I wanted some insight from my peers as to what I could improve on in my Portfolio. I'll attach some images for you to see as well but the link to my website is http://www.skylightcg.com. I would love your opinion on what I should improve on, remove, add, etc.…
Hey people. My first complete model+texture project since ages. Intended as a FPS player weapon. Critique is welcome and appreciated. Main reference is a random "medieval crossbow" image from google. Materials in texture are from cgtextures.com. Used Maya, Photoshop, Crazybump and xNormal. Lots of time spent on learning…
Hi Ravanna, I haven't attempted a full-body sculpt or model before. I wasn't given any preparation warnings about which may be more difficult, but now I've already started the project so it's a bit late to change what I've done so close to a milestone deadline for the base mesh. So I know how to do this already but there was a tutorial on the site that I was looking for that was awesome and now I can't find it. I have some ref images that I want to use for a human head but there is a not of specularity left in them that I want to remove. Any suggestions?

We're doing an overhaul of mipmaps in our game. I was wondering, does anyone have recommendations of a good batch image processing tool? Ideally I want to be able to automate precise levels, hue \ sat shifting and resizing multiple times over thousands of textures. Thanks!
Could you elaborate on the first image, specifically from step 2 to step 3? It looks like a rounded shape created with a bevel tool, but the gunstock seems to have different curvatures at the front and back — the curvature is larger at the rear and smaller at the front. I'm not sure which command to use for this, or is…
