that's some nice tight detail. looks good, its a nice piece to test your displacement workflow on. actually with hires textures they don't do it like that, one big map. and you can have upwards of 400k of texture space on a film creature. that would be one big ass map what you want to do is take a shot at using multiple uv… -

Vig - thanks, yeah, turns out the medium was too old. Apparently one of the ingredients slowly oxidizes in the bottle if there's much air inside it, and that's what happened. It looks like you nailed that silhouette but I think you might want to to rework some of his muscles and forms underneath his skin to push things further. I'd try bringing him to a lower subdivision and cut into his forms without focusing too much on the surface details… -
