Ta much gir the hand thing is probably a throwback from her being a boy mesh when she was started...I see what you mean about the torso too....kk good, I have things to fix....thanks again mister :D
Welcome aboard! It's fantastic to see another animator here! Loving the progress on elephant so far, the throwback to dumbo is great! I agree with the earlier post that in game it feels a bit large, but thats nothing to worry about, valve rescales all the couriers to their own requirements if they feel the need to.
For extra throwback feel ( ala software rendered tomb raider ) you could make sure all your meshes have hard surface normals when imported into Unreal. Or just recalculate the normals using ddx ddy and plugging it into Material's normal output too. Just an idea :)
Hey everyone, Short intro: I'm currently a student in The Netherlands. I also have a job as concept artist in the game industry and I'm working hard everyday! Been having a foundations throwback mood lately, doing a lot of studies and construction drawings. Cheers! Gerben http://drawingmoose.com
Smallish update. The eyes still need a bit of work since he doesn't have an upper eyelid now. Also found a youtube vid that I used for some refs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26UD4kFr1pc Its an interview thats i thought was interesting to boot, if only as a throwback to a different era.
Necro here- Playing this game, I am reminded of System Shock 2 and various other semi stealth FPS games of it's time. Maybe it's just me, but pumping up my dart gun and skewering a tunnel Nazi from the shadows is totally a throwback to the good times. Dyamn. (good game, btw)
Just got back from it. Very enjoyable, even if there was some stuff that bugged me. Awesome throwbacks/nods to the original: Things I liked: Things I didn't like (i.e. Nitpicks): Overall, very enjoyable. You should go see it. Makes me want to watch the first one again for sure.
Modeling a head like this is obsolete for the most part. Sculpt and retop is a lot more efficient. Fiddling around with verts like this while accurately creating the forms of the head is a throwback to stitching nurbs patches together. Even production wise a clean generic base head with good animation topology is used to…
Looks really promising I did surprise me tho that they are going the titanfall route as hard now. If I read that out correctly, then the most important of the new features will make it like titanfall without mechs in terms of infantry combat. (which I think is great for me personally) but thats a big in your face throwback…
neato, totally looks fake CG but I wonder if they are doing that as a throwback to the old hand drawn cells of the 1st one? i dunno. I got a chance to meet and talk to one of the original tron artists a while back, some cool stories, they had like 100k frames to do in like 2-3 months, rather insane haha.
