Thanks guys! We FINALLY found the cause of this issue (failed to load a curves file needed by the hard-surface conversion function). It has been fixed (yay!) and will be part of the 1.7 release (as well as the preview build to be released today). - Teddy
5 Vertex Channels (Black, Alpha, Red, Green, Blue) with Black being the base. Maximum number of textures in a material (DX9) is 15, 12 if you check static mesh as it's only function. Maximum number of instructions (DX9) is 512.
imo get yourself blender or another polygon modeling software. Zbrush is not an end all solution, especially if you want to create hardsurface things other than that have a look at the extract function combined with zremesher and use polish brushes
I'm pretty sure anything over 1024 isn't even visible. Hell, 512 probably looks the same. I think the higher pressure levels are just used to push people into "upgrading" periodically with the false impression of improved functionality.
There'S a huge thread on TheArea about the issues introduced with the new "adaptive" viewport navigation in Max 2015. Conclusion was that the devs will introduce some toggle for the new functionality ( shortcut , maxscript access). I guess this will land in the next service pack or so ...
Stroke > Curve Functions > Delete deletes the path that was previously made. Choosing another brush exits curve mode entirely, but to make more than one curve at a time, you can tap once anywhere else on the mesh to commit it.
In my case, the idea would be to take a gradient mask I've created procedurally and apply it as a texture, so that it can be manipulated with UV coordinates. When you say "pipe it directly" into another material, is this a reference to the material function call node?
yeah, looking back on that it's just way too fucking much haha. you're just jealous. also, the print screen function doesn't work on my computer for some reason so i'll have to wait to post in-progress shots.
Physique and CS are band-aid solutions left over from a time when Max did not have a proper IK solution or a functional skin modifier. Not to say that Physique and CS are bad .. if you like to bake using Betty Crocker.
I dont know about books. But if your looking to do up a website easily. Give sitegrinder a shot. Its a addon to photoshop. Basically it functions off your naming things a certain way in the layers. Then generates code for you.
