They've started showing off ZB4 features, first ones up: shadowbox (extended hard surface via masking functionality), matchmaker (projection while maintaining volume), and clip brushes. http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=090818
Hey gir, Could you talk a little bit about your process for creating that big seam on her suit? I'm working on something similar with my current project and wondering if there's some trick to getting a clean mask.
If you're using the May 2012 build, there is a bug where masked materials don't cast static shadows. You could use dynamic shadows for the trees, just open up the mesh properties and untick "use precomputed shadows".
For superficial stuff you can paint them into spec/gloss or use something like crazybump to convert a scratch map to normal and use it as a masked overlay on your normal map, nice cheap way of breaking up the surface.
The NormalmapUncompressed is buggy as hell, if you don't get white dots you'll get black dots. The solution is to mask out the blue channel in the shader and append a constant value to it. Values between 0.75 and 1 should work fine.
Nice explanation Mark!! Thats the issue with alphas. =\ It's either... A) DXT5 with Alpha Blend, looks great but is unlit (more expensive) B) DXT1 Opacity Mask, Hard edge can look shitty but can be lit and cast shadows
Nice dude! Looking really sweet. Sure there are a few artifacts here and there, but that can be masked out by hand anyway if it does prove to be an issue. Keep us posted on anything new man, really keen to see the results. -caseyjones
I was thinking a bit, and thought, why not Javier Bardem as Batman? Hell, with his profile he barely needs a mask, plus he's a great actor. And he's Latino so he can be El Hombre MURCIELGO! :P
We've gone the way of the cgfx shader similar to Brices, blend 3 textures based on vert colour. You can also use a layer texture to blend using masks, but this means your uv's on the terrain have to be maintained.
So I just finished rigging, making the masks and LOD's. I'm going to make the promo items and submit! (Sorry for the cropped photo, I know you can't see the axe very well, stinkin locked camera)
