Yeah, but script is easier/faster. Select all the meshes, go to the Utility panel, click the More... button, choose UVW Remove and click OK, then click Materials.

Ah the Local button. That's what I needed. While we're at it here's another conundrum. Why is the Smooth tool double the size of the Standard brush and is there a way to disable that?
In the Multires panel there's buttons for "Del Lower" and "Del Higher". So, if you go to Level 1 and Del Higher you don't have a Multires Mesh anymore.
