I don't know what to add except that I've only recently discovered Ashley Wood's work and love every bit of it, so the timing on this is great. Not much to critique, but it is a bit poly heavy due to the mechanical aspect like you pointed out. Can't wait to see what people do with the SDK.
#070 Despite having a correctly generated UV coodinates, clean mesh topology, and a perfectly scaled & aligned high-polygon model, Normal Map baking & viewing will never function correctly. In any version of the package. Except when you try to show somebody the problem your having, then it will work until they leave.
no I plan on building a low poly when im done, mainly everything will be chunks except the pistons which will be there own parts since they have to move and rotate on there own. Normal mapping 4 t3h win well in either case I'll have a update later tonight so keep a eye out
Normal map looks fine to me, except for the scalloped edges. You could fix those by changing the shape of the cage, pimpinmymouth talks about this in his tutorial. What material setup are you using to apply the normal map to the low-poly mesh? Xnormal does a great job with AO, worth a try.
I think this'll push AMD to hurry up a bit with making cheaper, more powerful chips available. Clusters require multithreaded applications, preferrably ones geared for supercomputers (huge number of threads, little branching). They won't do jack or games except allow you to play 24 games at once.
I lost all my work for my senior studio project and a game design class during finals. I decided to reformat my drive and though I had backed up every thing. Yup I did back up everything except that work some how. Fun times.
Been with my gal about 4 years now, not married talk about it a bit. She is a massage therapist, and games from time to time usually kicking my ass in Puzzle Quest. Quite supportive of my path of choice except when it turns into hours upon hours of gameplay testing hah.
This scene is going to town!, just awsome :) No real critiscism except for the orange light on top of the thing, can't really read where thats coming from. by the way did you add those glow pieces around the white lights trough an alpha mapped plane? Or is it just a litle bit of PS magic:)?
Sorry for offtopic but what project are you working on? Recently have been looking for a mod or indy project to work on and gain the experience. Will download as soon as get a stable broadband. Haven't played much with the U3 editor (except watching 3dbuzz tutorials and playing with the interface, generic browser) but will…
[bump] hey all, looking for work again, same deal as before but with some more industry experience. thanks in advance, Mike. here's some personal work pics; and here are a few paid work pics from last year for jumper the game; all modeling, textureing and design by myself except for the sky
