Good stuff, thank you very much for sharing that. Another question I have, is there a way to retrieve the original uv layout from a collapesd stack after importing the model? This may make the above questions mute.
Well Castrated you might be disappointed if you are looking for the same kind of layout or interaction. However you will soon notice that the modeling tools are much more powerful. It's just that the Max interface feels quite clunky in comparison.
no complaining about max or maya! I came from Lightwave.. oh my god talk about unintuitive and horrible layout. i switched to maya about 8 months ago and havn't looked back since.
While I'll agree that aesthetically it needs a little work, the basic layout and functional design is a definite improvement. Just getting rid of a lot of the old clutter and putting the key site features front and center is good good.
Does that section have a different smoothing group than the rest? Is your UV layout seamless in that area? Are all the vertices in that area welded? Can you show the normal map for that area? Could be any or all of these things.
Llucs suggestion of baking from one UV set to another it's the best option. This can be done in designer as well. simply make target object UVs match your desired atlas layout and bake to them from the original object.
Hey poly people! Got a chance to put some I:SS pieces together. :) Spent majority of my time working on neon sources and branding. Concepts by Susan Luo and Neal Hanson Responsible for neon trails. Layout by Alex Dracott Latte Owl sign by Harold Lamb
Newtek-Lightwave 9 LW 9 will have real and total support for edge manipulation, as well as the modeling tools set is now acessible in Layout for those of you that want a single work environment! There are now also sub-d modeling with n-gons as well as faster sub-d surfaces in general.
Having a problem where when I open the UV editor the editor scales horizontally to fit both monitors, it's ridiculous. I was wondering if there was a way to save the size in a layout option somewhere or if I could control it's size by a script somehow. Any takers? Thanks!
Hey gang! Anyone know a reliable way/guide to transferring a set of pbr textures from one mesh to an identical mesh with a different UV layout? I had some trouble with the normal map last time I tried this from what I can remember. Thanks in advance
