This is really cool. I can see some pinching on the free-float rail section. You definately need to sort those edges out though, they're incredibly tight.
I found programming easier to pickup than drawing tbh. Its rigid and well defined, and most problems can solved via research, rather than lengthy practice.
I can't offer any technical advice on doing hair. However, I can maybe help a little by suggesting you define the hairline position differently, something like this:

The lacrimal caruncle in the inner eye area for the guy could be pulled close to the center of the head and more defined. Give the eye a little more body. Besides that digging e'erythang else.
Neck looks a tad short, and you could probably define the arm muscles a little better. Besides that I like the design, kind of reminds me of The Witcher a little bit.
