for hard surface I prefer photoshop, its easier to draw a straight line. for creatures/characters I like photoshop for laying out the initial colors, then jumping into mudbox/bodypaint and fixing seams. really its down to how good your end result looks, not how you do it.
https://youtu.be/_CvPjGRR2rM Wanted to do a take on taking these visuals and seeing how they would play out in a side scroll fashion like "Another World". The creature animations in the first shot are done by the very talented Manuel Trujillo check out his reel here! https://vimeo.com/artofempty
@Deadman, the warlock came out really well. The staff looks kind of like a lobster creature with 3 huge jaw pieces. CM is almost done. I've started blocking in the BH I was originally planning to do for the chest. I'm not sure if I'll have it done in time but we'll see.
Finally Packing everything to finish, been really busy and also had a lot of trouble with the texturing due to being bad at drwaing and lacking good concept, but still tried my best and got some references from Riot void creatures. I'll leave here the last renders and wires
Really awesome work, love the whole reimagining of classic creatures thing. One thing I did notice however is that the seam on her (I'm assuming its a she) neck is visible. Other then that, would be great like others have said to see a breakdown (wires/flats/highpoly) of the character.
This creatures must be the weakest of the D&D universe! Your concept is a lot more stylized and simple. I like it but try to make it bigger and make some shadeing in it. If you want to make it like the original, you should put this big folds in it and and make the hands and foots more flat and longer.
Been a fair while since even posting! In between contracts I have been chipping away at this personal piece (Along side like 3 others). This is my first "Real" attempt at a larger creature traversing. Long way to go but it is sure coming together. https://vimeo.com/344421554
thanks everyone! great feedback. :) agito666 is probably right, in my original version the lineflow is completely interrupted. I've been doodling some disruptor concepts today, might even tryout a mount even though I am terrible with creatures Feedback appreciated! tell me what sucks
Heh! Not bad, your first 3D models reminds me of my first as well, I tried an humanoid creature just like that. Some advice... focus on one thing at a time... forget 2D for now, unless you are doing it for just a hobbie. Also there is a : missing in your link to artstation :)
the engine has some crazy detail on it!, looks like it mighta taken some long night time hours to pump that out lol. great creature sculpts as well its good to have a good grasp on hard surface as well as organic shapes and looks like your on the right track!
