that sounds cool, anyone tried it? Im a bit of a 3dcoat fanboy mostly because of how much I enjoy voxels and texture painting but still recommend topogun if people are looking for a pure retopology tool of the highest quality.

You can use this: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/bg-switcher Pretty cool and get's the same result. I use it to feel like I'm on another package while staying with the tools of 3ds Max.
Other than that, pretty cool character! Yeah the crest kinda looks like a dildo, maybe change it to a spike? or if he's steampunk, some kind of tool/part... Are you going to make an HP model and do a bake?
Very cool. Might be good to add some selection options rather then affecting the mesh directly, so you can use any modifier to parts of a mesh based on tension, it'd make it a more flexible tool.
Not that Im aware about, focus in 1.9 will be on the 3D painting tool (among other cool things) and let me tell you, its something else!! Can´t wait for you guys to try it out :D
