Day 11 : Map Blockout Phase 2 (Previous WIPs are posted here - https://twitter.com/9_bot) What was worked on today : Refined the internal paths and created new ones. Mainly worked on increasing the walls on the right side, used boolean modifier to destroy it and make way. Sidenote: I've been working on it from November and…
Looks great! I don't have time to write a lot, but I will say that some of the modeling and material work look like blockouts to me. For instance, the buildings and windows look blocky and thick, along with their materials looking smooth and flat. Perhaps consider adding more texture to the surfaces and improving the…
So far I like your blockout! Gives me Ghost Of Tsushima vibes! I do feel like your trees could have more height and scale variation though. I think it'd look really interesting if you had a select few taller trees peaking out from the shorter ones in spots.
Hey folks, I started a new project based on Baldi Konijn's concept https://www.artstation.com/artwork/eOYX I'm planning to make it handpainted pbr. I picked this concept because of course, I like it's style, but I also like how sci fi and fantasy blend together with these aliens. I am currently working on the blockout.
If you are trying to make a complex pattern that needs precise scale, i found this solution to work very well. You can use a blockout mesh, or a fast tiled image source. In this example i just drew a design out really fast and applied it to a plane. Then just place your sculpts and scale them accordingly! hope this helps
Been intense few weeks, had a game jam and school started, yay.... Here;s a personal project that I'm working on...I want to work on one asset and develop it really well. see where it goes with the details and whatnot....Started yesterday. WWII portable radio...focused a lot on the blockout to get the proportions and…
Update 1. Since the first update I've been working on layout and style. This is what I have right now, keep in mind this is still work in progress so I'm probably going to throw some stuff around. Anyway, starting now I'll work on tillable textures for the floor and back wall. Here's an updated blockout of the scene:
Baking definitely seems like the way to go, I'll have to be a little more careful with how many frames I use during blockouts and early passes :P Thanks guys! Definitely going to be using override layers more often from now on haha. I barely even had to clean anything up after baking.
This weekend's work : took a break from concept to make a 1st blockout pass inside UE. Broke some lines to create more interest. I also ended up further developing the surroundings, to frame the fountain better. I will need 1 or 2 additional modular pieces but mostly I'm fine with what I already have. Pfew :|
After looking at the monstrosity I had created I decided that making a new dog was number one on the priority list. Quite happy with the blockout I have going out right now. I think I might use a mix of fur brushes and my own sculpting skills, no idea yet how to do the tail tho.
