1.1) Yes. With some padding. It's not a bad idea to leave some free space for possible future changes. Obviously not that much, but I've often come to regret it when I left no space at all. Since not all parts of the car will change with different paint jobs, you probably could add three more paintjobs (if that's about…
Not too much more was accomplished this week, but I sculpted the bendy part of the straws, fixed the shape of the waffle cone, and sculpted the seat a bit more.
Hi John, It's not that it's bad, you clearly understand the relationships between different types of materials and how to make them work together. What IS missing however is context in what you're trying to make; or rather, you're not attempting to tell a story with your textures aside from "Hey! This is some dirty…
No further breakdowns for now unfortunately! I'll probably try and make a write-up on some of our techniques though, some of it has been covered in previous GDC talks from programmers, but would be worth condensing in one place! Wow, things do always get out of hand rather quick here. I think Gauss summed it all quite neat. It's just as important that people know which techniques and tools to use WHEN. I'd rather hire someone who told me he did that texture in PS, than someone who had modeled it in hipoly and did parts of it in ZBrush, which would…
Is there a way to select parts of the geometry in Maya without selecting the components on the backside, besides single click-selecting each part? Once in a while when modeling, Ill select some part on the backside without knowing it and later find parts moved and messed up.:poly127:
