Oh yeah, painting over blockouts is done all over the place. It's really good for level design concepts, and a lot of great concept artists use this technique to quickly get an environment together without having to spend ages sketching perfect perspective grids and lines.
Spent this evening working on the blockout for the whole scene. Things ended up...big. I think I'll work on fully finishing one of the buildings and then re-evaluate if I want to create the whole environment or scale down to something more manageable.
When posting blockouts I'd suggest using a grey or another solid background so the silhouette and shapes don't get lost in it. It looks ok so far but I'm sure you have much more to go, so keep going!
I have started a very basic blockout of the scene I would like to create, Iam just trying to get a sence of scale and composition. I have also roughed the idea for the traditional colour schemes used for old town houses.
Nice start! The black chair material looks... undefined. Is it supposed to be metal? Shiny plastic? Why would you put that on a chair or any furniture other than to be incredibly uncomfortable? But I like the initial blockout and lighting pass, keep going!
Starting blockout for fiddles model, being a scarecrow has it's perks. Basically piecing him together than one whole solid model. Having fun making him so far let's see what he turns into later on :D
got a chance to work on this a little bit. heres some blockout armor. I'm not sure about the legs. I wanted to make sure he didnt look like he "skipped leg day" but I may be going overboard haha
Alright.. Just posting this VERY basic color blockout of the texture before I head off to bed. Will continue working on this tomorrow. Hope you like it! :) Oh, and please ignore the hair, I am aware that it has the wrong material assigned. ^^
Keep the cave! Gives a nice sense of depth. I know its a blockout but the wall to the left and right of the throne looks really flat maybe having the cave wrap around either side would help? Keep it up, like the mood of this
