I think it's just that your walls and assets suggest a basement/lower level room (repurposed boiler room?), with the concrete being cracked and dirty, with open wiring (maybe plumbing?) being channelled around since nobody cares about aesthetics in this area, and so maybe the ceiling should have an indication of that as…
Scale of things in general looks off - barb wire, rebar in concrete, metal fence poles. Light looks like a completely different style and out of place - a spotlight could look better or something more industrial? Don't understand the brick foundation at the base of the pillar, have any reference for this? Concrete pillar…
at the distance in your picture I think the small concrete or cement detail would be lost, eg the tiny stones and cracks, and you would mainly be seeing dirt and grime. I'm sure you can do a convincing procedural concrete texture in maya but I've no idea how :) Just as reference (no use to you because its not in maya) most…
Nice little piece, great amount of detail. Perhaps make the chipped bits lighter than the undamaged parts. Dirt and dust builds up on concrete, the chipped parts would reveal the fresh concrete underneath. You might also have to have to decide how old each piece damage is, making some lighter and some darker :D
Hey this is looking pretty cool. I think your pillars read a lot like concrete instead of metal. Maybe a higher/tighter spec and a little bit of reflection could help. (unless its supposed to be concrete. Also, I think that the treadplate floor fits in well with the environment...it looks too modern day and less…
you could have 2 materials and vertex blend between them. Like a dirty/damaged version, and a cleaner version and then blend them together with masks and vertex color, allowing you to paint in variation non uniformly. or something like concrete over bricks and chip away the concrete to expose brick etc. There are lots of…
Why do people follow tutorials exactly? I mean, couldn't you follow the tutorial but make a slightly different object? Like if it's a tut for a concrete pillar, make a concrete wall/corner/set or something? All the techniques would still apply but at least you wouldn't end up with the same cookie cutter model everyone's…
Thanks for the comment, here is an update. Updated the window textures with sky reflection, added vegetation, wires etc, some drain like concrete slabs. Also some off screen blocks to cast some shadows and suggest there are buildings out of view. Currently working on breaking up the floor texture and making it look more…
I am trying to make a nice rubble pile and I have sculpted a bunch of different concrete pieces in zbrush, decimated them, and exported them to Maya. I tried to place the rubble in Maya but the polycount got to high and it was a mess. Questions: Is there an easy way in zbrush to place these concrete pieces I have sculpted?…
