I just wanna throw it out there that I've gotta move again (Landlord sold the condo I'm subletting) so if any SD Polycounter needs a roommate...Get in touch. I need to find a new place by the 14th!
HOLY SHIT I KNOW WHAT IM DOING THE 14TH! Jocose! Where going ! Dont give me that I dont have a car bullshit I will toss you to the movie theater if I have to! You to KEEN!
When does this challenge end? I'll probably start it (despite late) and work on it in my own pace for a Uni Project.... Just wondering as this was created on the 14th... does that give two weeks or a full month? This thread comes as a great guide to level creation :)
wow... it's VERY nice. a lot LOT faster than cs5. load time is ~1/10th, liquify is wtf amazing at high resolutions... and generally feels more responsive overall. running the 64bit version btw. also, this is just my first impression.
you should work much more on the silhouette of your char... if you apply a surface shader to your model and turn it around in the viewport you wont see all those polygons... i could create the same silhouette with a 10th of your polycount...
The price is still too hefty and has weird limitations. At that point you may as well use Blender. Though at least they're trying a new model, I guess. I probably don't even use 1/10th of the functions and features in Maya.
ehm... They say that contest duration is "one month" but after that, they say also : "So, the challenge will run starting today, july 14th 2011, and ending october 18th 2011"... Three months imho :D but please tell me if I'm wrong with something.
i sincerely hope you're not a convinced anglophile, because dutch english is somewhat american-sounding, heh. When are you going to London, anyway? i'll be there from the 24th of this month to the 10th of october, and wouldn't mind meeting up with some polycounters myself.
ah now a female model would certainly be a good base for a challenge in the challenge forum, er, would be wrong to do this in the challenge forum now because of it's existing longevity. PM one of us if you want your female armoured from the 14th.
