For future reference, it's better to print screen or save out a quick render of your prop. Offscreen pics make it harder to see what you're doing, especially as from what I can see, your lamp post is heavily cropped out.
There are a couple of factors in this. The pro of doing it that way is you have fewer draw calls. Less textures floating around that could clutter up a directory. Here is another prop in a similar style as the bike. I recently did some updates and cleanup on the texture. I originally had it in the scene, but I felt it made it kind of unbalanced so I took it out. One day I will expand the scene and drop it back in.
