Crosspost from my gamedev thread: https://polycount.com/discussion/184167/development-log-building-a-complete-car-from-scans-vr-game-dev Making different wear states for parts:
I wasn't using the cage. Maybe I'll give a try. I'm on my student internship in indie gamedev studio, model I'm working on is a part of project and I have no idea if I can share it here, sorry :/
http://www.leighvanderbyl.com/texture-painting-faq/ its from vfx industry professional texture artist, but i think is applicable to gamedev. If you wanna do something stylized, paint textures by yourself and use photos for realistic work
Indeed, it is! I've lurked sites like gameartists, cgsociety, gamedev, and the like for years, but I haven't been to Polycount in a very long time. After seeing all the buzz about it's new website, I decided to sign up.
Using these non-default settings that ott and gamedev mentioned are also much better for your render to texture normal / ao maps as well. The result will be much smoother. I tend to use catmull-rom and then max 2.5 or hammersley..
At least I know it's not just me. Fightpunch I saw that term for the first time on one of Almight_Gir's posts, about doing a lecture on gamedev. I suppose I didn't internalize it at the time.
All of your characters look amazing. Could you call out a few that are gamedev characters versus high poly? It's so hard to tell as they all look so damn good :)w
Not yet, I'll try that next. I just downloaded a user compiled 2k9 collada exporter ... apparently there are 3 main exporters for .dae, I have them all now! Thanks gamedev!
http://www.cc2.co.jp/montreal/#recruit http://www.cc2.co.jp/montreal/#top It's nice to see more japanese developper coming in our yard. It's a good time to be a gamedev in Mtl right now (I guess?)
actualy the model nolonger exists, (my hd crashed)... But, what i was going to do with them was pimp them, have them on my portfolio and hope that some gamedev would hire me when they see it and my other art.
