I've decided to do some exploring with some car paint material and putting it on my model, as well as improving the model itself so that it would display the true vision I had for this lightsaber. I do plan on improving the front part of the shroud by bringing it into ZBrush so I can bring out and play with the curvy…
It really pumps me up to hear that people are seeking a game like this. I could talk your ear off about foliage and draw call consolidation. I plan on doing a dedicated blog post with a video that goes into technical detail on how I'm doing just that, but in the mean time here is a summary I gave to someone else who asked…

For the sky I'm using Ultra Dynamic Sky plugin, fences and roads SplineToolPro. Now just have foliage and extra landscape props for more detail. Almost got it done can't wait to finish…
My colleague Ben Garnell, who also worked on some borderlands 2 stuff said that was all just flat faces where different parts met, didn't sound too complicated (but that's just hearsay). I think if you want to mix a lot of crazy, very different guns, it's the only way. it just gets too hard to combine otherwise. We did…
i would first start by turning the texture off and the smooth off. I know it seems like it looks better, but it makes it harder for us to tell exactly what's going on. Also, you want to see what the actual model looks like, not what the subdivided model would look like. You can turn on "smooth edges," just not "display…
