Fantastic work, the Alpha is looking fantastic, love the little Butt scratching Idle animation, brought a chuckle. How are you finding the Unity animation manager? I am thinking about starting to get into using it, right now any animations I make are blended by a coder using scripts.
Yep happens to me alot, when max has been idle for a while the vertex ticks just suddenly dissappear, resetting or reloading the file will not work, you have to close and reopen the application to get them back. //btw I'm using 3ds max 9 with service pack 2

You really want to pre-filter your cubemap mips using an offline utility. It was talked about a fair bit in this years PBS course at SIGGRAPH. Just an FYI for anyone having issues like this or just wanting to do a fresh/clean install of speedtree, go into the registry and navigate to the following location "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software" delete the folder called "IDV, Inc." and when you reopen speedtree it will recreate all of this again. They are the user pref's.…
thats not a bad start the mash is clean you may need to work on the normal map i looking at it and its not working with it and your idle animation looks good but you may want to get its tail moving side to side it just looks stiff to me its a good start keep it up
