It still remains as the black silhouette when i put a default shader. Messed around in the scene controls once you told me about the ao and shadows though, I unchecked enable exposure control in viewport and I could see my maps again! I reloaded my norm map though and it looks normal...no pun intended
Your popup is unfortunately covering your skinning modifiers so it is hard to tell. If I were to guess, I'd say you have a symmetry modifier enabled on the remesh button. If the model isn't symmetrical across that axis and the half it is trying to mirror over happens to be the half that doesn't have any vertices in it, the…
I'm guessing that regardless if static shadow is off it still contributes to the global light field (volumetric lightmap or sparse volume samples) which is used to provide indirect lighting for movable objects. You can make the given level using fully dynamic lighting by enabling "force no precomputed lighting" in the…
I also have this problem with cs4 and have hade it on sevral computer even if i update the drivers i still get this message. Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements. Check the video cards manufacturer's website for latest software. GPU enhancement cane be…
Is the Mental Ray plugin enabled? Settings/Preferences>Plug-in Manager>MayaToMR Make sure it's loaded and set to auto-load. That's the only thing I could imagine being the issue, since I bake AO all the time, and it prevents me if MR isn't loaded. I've never baked Final Gather though, but it should be the same issue.
do you have back face cull enabled for your objects? it slows down the rendering to a pretty stupid level, to say from 200+ fps (on a gforce gtx260 & quadcore) down to 4-8 fps... funny thing is I thought it had actually run way faster with edged faces and backface culling on my old 6800gt rig..
@Malcom you're THE MAN! I closed the UV editor in Maya and the export process took couple of minutes instead of 20. Amazing! I also had "name matching" enabled. After I disabled it it worked as you said. Amazing (twice)! For the UDIMs it's ok, it works, I just have to do some math. Thanks a lot for the help!
That's one way to make nobody wanting to help you. Regardless; These are the default settings I have them in (I think), see if there are any conflicting settings. Make sure the fill in "Render UVs" mode is set none. I tried with solid and it just gave me a block of white, like yours, except with with the display seams I…
Okay I figured out what the problem is, but I'm still looking for a solution. Turns out I am some how enabling a different character set, like I am able to use accents hitting question mark types an e with a dot over top of it. Does anyone know how I'm getting into this mode, it's very annoying.
Argh, every time I post a question after ages trying to figure it out, I end up figuring out the solution before anyone replies..... I changed the edge display color in preferences under the UVW Map dropdown to white, thus enabling me to see the light blue point-to-point selection. /bitchslapped /facepalm
