Theres some weird stuff about this program. Its going to take me ages to get used to not doing things Max style. At least you can turn off that idiotic "no rotating in orthographic views". How long did it take those of you who've made the switch to learn this new interface and start being productive with it?
I installed the trial just yesterday. The interface is much nicer and brush and layer windows etc. are integrated now. So no more dicking around trying to drag them to the exact corner so you get the perfect amount of visible workspace. I am yet to venture deeper with it but so far it's pretty much the same on the surface.
I really wanted to test out Blender (maya user) and Eevee after I had a coworker show me, and I'm pretty happy with the results. Once I get faster with the tools, and interface I'd consider making the switch permanently anyways. Check out my Artstation if you'd like too. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/d8L0OQ
Does anyone here use Maya and have dyslexia, or know anyone who does? Do you customize your interface, and if so, what setup works best for you? What helped/helps you learn the software when you're just starting out? I'm asking for someone out of curiosity, my guess is their focus is probably modeling/texturing/animation.
Hi, I wanted to know if Polycount is still going to create a Graphic Design Sub-forum. I checked the sites wiki about a month ago and looked at the "User Interface" Section, it said we will soon have a Graphic Design sub-forum. I'm a Graphic Design student and I would love to have a section dedicated to Graphic Designing.
I'm thinking about finally learning ZBrush, so I was looking for tutorial DVDs helping me to get into the software. There's quite a lot of those on the net though, so I would be grateful if someone could recommend a DVD or two that are worth the money for a beginner. Getting into the interface and creating highres geometry…
@ivanzu : Thanks for the feedback. I'm really new to Maya and as you can see the island mesh is very unstable. The top of it is barely UV mapped ( hence the lack of texturing )and I'm dreading the day I'll have to redo it ( Tomorrow *shudder* ). @PryZern : Me too! I'm still thinking about it. I'm imagining the character…
What do you exactly mean by interactive? Is that like player goes in the grass and it moves, or like you can harvest it, or how it it interactive to what? I'm sorry but even though I watched some videos about the game, I'm not really sure what you mean. Also how is the interactivity connected to having cards, if they have…
P.s I agree with both of you on the irrationaility problem, effectively yes, the game will always be based on coded logic, and therefore always be rational in terms of interaction (how the player interaction is coded etc) But it is true that abstraction and irrationality can come with art, and how those interactions / game…
Interface Thank you for your reply [Wait are you using Sub D in Maya to smooth the model?] Does that mean you can increase the number of object polygons you have created? Convert> smooth mesh preview to polygons Is this the way to go? I am making a normal map with ZBrush. Is this no good?
