Hey man, great to hear it. Here's some advice now that you're pushing polys and getting paid: * Keep on building your portfolio. Use what you're learning and better your package. * Do not get cocky. You're making money for what you love to do, and I am sure you have friends or peers who would love to do this as well. The…
Hi, I'm getting this weird pattern artifact on the cylinder here, all the other pieces are fine. I've tried redoing the UVs, upscaling the texture resolution, I've re-checked the HP and LP and they look fine. Any ideas what's happening?https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/10a8zcuozRHiK_E82KO6FSh3eOQdw9ttf?usp=sharing -…
The Title text "portfolio" is getting chopped off in my browser and on your 3d section some of the high res thumbnails have a white pixel on the edges that should be easy to get rid of. One other thing, and its nothing really, is the scroll bar on the bottom isnt nesssary, maybe you could get rid of it. Overall pretty cool…
Hello to my fellow polycounters! I’ve been working on a character in the evenings after my day-job, in hopes of pushing my portfolio forwards. In the past I’ve either had a fairly generalist portfolio, or the chosen designs were not visually strong. I’ve reflected a lot lately, and decided to push forwards with a stylized…
As we gear up for the next round on consoles, we are all looking at polycounts and texturs sizes. Now, I was wondering..... We like BIG textures - we can pack the detail in. But is it work it? In the UK, the standard TV resolution is 720x576 (HDTV is very uncommon here). If we start using 2 or 3 textures per character, all…
well, i've been playing Crimsonland solidly for the past 3 hours ... just one more go on survival mode, desperate to break the 10 minute barrier ... get back you zombie cocksuckers, bang! BANG! Bangbangbang! BOOM! Ha! And STAY back. i've torn myself away now, time for bed. But i'm sure that if i get 10 minutes in the…
Dang I never heard of that Eee box before (knew about the netbooks but not that). Tempting, and crazy cheap too! Thomas I tried an older gen Macbook Pro for a few minutes the other day (metal case) and it had a fullsize DVI plug on it's right side. I am not familiar with the mini dvi format so I did not spot it on the…
A quick rejig of placement/proportions with the Liquify tool: Paintover to correct some lumpiness, incorrect plane changes and missing planes Redline for clarification. Compare the plain liquify one with your original screen directly, they should fit over the top of one another. Also, for reference on how that normal stuff…
Hi everyone! This is my first time ever taking on a challenge! I chose the Hard Surface Prop, which in my head I said I would model in one go. But now that I've started, that doesn't seem as feasible. I'm thinking the thing that took up the most of my time was trying to figure out the scale. In any case, I'm not trying to…
Yes it's not a rule, but just matching aesthetics without a clear purpose seems a good way to waste time, or simply train in modeling.. yes you may get "happy accidents" but still you should have a clear idea in mind even if you start the exploration part with modeling directly (maybe you can't draw)... and the research…
