I had a free week between semesters, and because I have wanted to explore more stylized stuff, I bought a tutorial on how to create a stylized sword prop by Sabrina Echouafni on Flipped Normals. As someone who is still relatively new to sculpting, I like stylized stuff because it is more forgiving, and I can just have fun…
Think about a backup solution, at least for your work files. As for more affordable extra monitor space down the line, you sometimes can get decent used monitors really cheap from office liquidations etc. Won't have the greatest color accuracy if they've been running for a while (especially if that was at full brightness),…
Where I could composite vector shapes with feathered edges and bitmap fill of albedo textures , then easily replace the fill with normal map or spec for export . Doing pixel grid snap , no sub-pixel blurring. And a spline/brush based scattering those bitmap filled shapes or deforming alternating stripes along the spline.…
For a real use case, nothing better than just doing it; so retopology, unwrap, bake and paint, drop it into your engine of choice. I think if you do that here with these props you'll quickly see how and what to improve. You don't need a perfect sculpt to do this, in fact I would recommend going ahead and try doing it now…
Hi everyone! My name is Marwan, I’m an Environment Artist and Co-founder of Remesh Games. As an Environment Artist, I’ve always found it annoying to "pollute" my scene just to check an asset. Dragging a mesh into the hierarchy just to see its stats or animations—and then having to clean it up—is a waste of time. To fix…
imo the mesh resolution is holding you back, unless this is a dynamesh only challenge you're at a stage where you can make a lowpoly, create polygroups, subdivide and get that fine-tuned control you need. Your anatomy is excellent but dynamesh is really just a tool meant for quickly establishing a rough silhouette, it's…
I can only comment on the timing of the animation as I haven't tried animation in 3d yet myself, I have to rely on what my eyes tell me from my 2d training... hopefully I can convey it properly. animation is best critiqued in quicktime format... cause quicktime allows to cycle by frame :3 I parsed the avi file in…
I wanted to post some more progress. Thanksgiving week was busy with lots of things not being work, but I've gotten back on it and am moving forward. I've gotten the vast majorty of the fuselage done now. I'd really love to go in and get all the tiny details, because that's what I feel, in the end, makes a good model…
