In addition to wrap, you can use the tilda key in the 2.5d canvas in ZBrush to offset the tools you've laid out (works well for debris). -

If you made a tiling texture in 2.5D it might make sense just to render out matcaps but it can be a little problematic. Everything else Xnormal IMO -

Thanks a lot guys, I knew it was a 2.5D issue but it gets pretty annoying. Appreciate the help though, I'll see about that upgrade because this happens a lot. -

you'll never know until you try and find new workflow, like last time zbrush 2 was launch which was intended for 2.5d painting, let's see how it grows.
