Your problem with the highpoly is that you probably work "zoomed in" too much. Best to view the model at roughly the size it would be in game. It will give you a better idea of how sharp an edge should be. Exaggerating the smoothness of the edges will also ensure it will look better on lower resolutions. But if this is…
My original box was like that as well, and I have gotten comments on my edges look so sharp you can cut yourself on them, so I beveled most of my edges. I only used a 2 segment bevel, so things did not go TOO crazy, but still put it up there at a grand. How do you have 90 degree egdes, but make them look not so sharp?…
I've got one of these: http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Furniture/Chairs/Fabric-Chairs/OWARLNGTON Looks comfy, right? yeah I was fooled too. It's just a bunch of terrible design flaws loosely held together by a chair. I'm sitting on two thick cushions and it's still bloody uncomfortable, it can't be raised…
Great the advice you've all shared here, its all been a great help! Last night I had an artist message me, asking for a bit of an update on this stuff. I'm far from the expert of any of this, but I ended up going in enough depth in my reply that I figured I'd post here also, for any new artists stumbling upon the thread.…
Hi, I need a 3d model of a calligraphy character to be made. I am willing to pay. This is the calligraphy character: I would like the silhouette of the character to be exactly as it appears in the above image, and the 3d part of it is to just give it some thickness. Not as a simple extrude, but instead making it a little…
Hi there! I got a Problem with all Big Textures, downloaded from cgtextures! I gonna scale them down to fit my UV Isle, but then they´re becoming soft. nothing left of the sharp hi res look :( What im doin wrong? My workflow is like this: 1. Open Photoshop with my UV Diffuse Layout 2. Open HiRes Texture 3. Select the right…
Glad you solved it, and that you shared your solution! Always nice to see. FWIW this specific issue has been covered multiple times in our sticky thread https://polycount.com/discussion/56014/how-the-f-do-i-model-this-reply-for-help-with-specific-shapes-post-attempt-before-asking/p1 Open the link there, for "Shared: My…
Maybe I am blind or maybe stupid but can't find the solution for my case. I found some similar but they did not help me to solve a problem. the are mostly on flat surface but mine are curved.I also read advice in that thread, and I found that higer topology can be a good idea, so I apllyed subdivide before extrude that…
I feel like the edges on your high poly are way to sharp, if you look at high poly models created by other people here on polycount you'll notice the edges are often rather soften and sometimes pretty plastic looking. As far as I know this is done for the baking process, to improve the readability. And I remember (think it…
It's looking nice! Love the keyshot material, kind of "crayon-ey" really shows off the edges. What are you using as reference for the knurling on the charge handle? Right now it's looking a little under-developed but I would need to see reference, usually it's a bit more pronounced and sharp looking. The stock is a bit…
