I have had a great opportunity to animate one of my favorite rifles, the FN FAL. Autodesk Maya was used for animation production and Marmoset Toolbag 3 for the render. My responsibilities were animation and rigging-- full detail/credits: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/XBWao3 I hope you enjoy it!…

Even when it's free it’s hard to
compete against Unreal as it's amazing value and so well supported IMO. Not that I am knocking it, It's great that Amazon released it for open source
rather than letting it die, I wish some other firms would do this, like Autodesk
with Softimage, Mudbox and so on.
I see constant suggestions to upgrade to w11. Should I? Blender, Adobe and Autodesk soft work ok on it ? Wacom drivers? Just wonder. My previous experience tells never upgrade Windows till one year passed at least and I still regret I killed Windows 7 on my pc. The best OS I ever worked with.
sounds tiring if you have to work on a touch screen monitor all day long - what's the benefit anyway? you still need a mouse, unless everyone else, pixologic, autodesk, etc. make their UI finger friendly. Instead of wacom-mouse-keyboard it will be wacom-mouse-keyboard-touchscreen... yay
This is a bug in Max 2017. I believe it's fixed in 2018. An Autodesk developer wrote this script for me to get the layers back. Place the script in the startup scripts folder, and then restart 3ds Max. Then open your organized file. Everytime you open a file it will make sure that all layers/objects are working.
Not to mention Modo is used at a few studios, I remember it was being used on God of War on the PSP a while back too. Not to mention Blender has control presets to resemble 3ds max or Maya closer, meaning if you can't get the autodesk software for some reason it will ease the transition later on better.
try exporting obj then using autodesks fbx converter utility, thats how I go from wings3d-->UDK, and it seems to work well. I remember seeing a note in UDK doc about using fbx 2012. (Im sure you tried all that crap by now, but just in case.)
Hi Zander, I brought the full Autodesk educational suite for £105 from the escape studios website, It doesnt run out but it's only available in the EU on this site (not sure where your from) but i'm sure you could find it elsewhere if you're not, anyways you can find it here cheers!
It is hard because you are supposed to do it with motion mixer. Maybe its not working for you because you dont know how to use it? If i were you i would dig out the Max8 (or maybe 7 something) demo videos and check out how autodesk wants you to use it.
