does Mudbox use CPU or GPU for calculating sculpting brushes?
Does anyone know what bottlenecks me? I have just bought a GTX 780 Superclocked from EVGA and while viewport and such is blazing fast, the sculpting per se with big brushes is still pretty slow: annoying. What is the problem? may be my i7 920? -

Strangely enough a LOT of developers in the industry have this dilemma. Most of us went the game route because we wanted a more steady paycheck (but it's just as competitive). No joke, a LOT of artists (even here on polycount) are semi-virtuoso guitarists blazing through Satriani/Malmsteen solos note-for-note. -

6/. Post Processing and Final Technical Art test. This is the fun part. Lens flare is easy, but dirty lens required some thinking. Technically, I only want the effect to take place when the camera is facing to a pretty blazing light source. Of course the ground is darker than the sky, so it makes sense to use scene texture… -

i biked that very bridge last week with a group of indie developers before gdc. we rented bikes from blazing saddles and rode over the golden gate bridge to a ferry. it was really awesome! the up-hill parts killed me, i don't know how you guys enjoy that stuff! -

Most of the time the concept artist will have a good grasp on what will cause problems and what won't. Besides the concept artists experience, there normally is another layer of protection. The concepts get passed around and the guy doing the rigging will say something. Planning and consultation with the team before… -

The point of using Maya/3DS Max particle systems is that you can get realistic particle effects in a flipbook animation that you can use for the UDK effect. You're not making the same thing twice, say for example you want some kind of blazing inferno effect and you need two different flame flipbooks in different shapes.… -

I have quadros in my work and home machines. I'd recommend against them for a game artist. Sometimes the planets will align correctly, and your software/driver/hardware combo will luck out, and you'll get blazing fast high poly scenes in various software. But generally I find them not near as stable as their consumer…
