well ... go for it to me it sounds super ineffective and wasteful on ressources. in games reusing tilable textures is one of the main tools to save on texture memory. not being able to just reuse a trimsheet or a tilable. in film you have a lot more ressources at hand, in games such waste will just drop back on your feet… -

But I want /need it to be in modular pieces not as one asset? Im not sure what you by the shading, those are hard 90 degree edges? But it's like the trimsheet normals are bleeding into each other or something. When I snap the UV's to the UV grid lines, same settings as I used on the viewport grid when making the trim… -

hmmm.. I included a link to a Marmoset viewer of my trimsheet. The metal parts on this one don't read very plasticy to me. Maybe it's just bad (flat) lighting in my screenshot? Does it still read like plastic when you can move around it? I don't know how to embed a Marmoset 3D viewer so here's a link to my artStation page… -

Trimsheet Ver 1.0, very much testing what I can get away with, and what will require geo, some nice results on the flatter or carved "in" bits. some jank on wooden skirting that was supposed to stick out, no replacing that silhouette I suppose. Now I know what works, v 2.0 should be quicker. Very much placeholder texture. -
