Pre-story When we found out about Polycount contest, 1st idea was to make a skin in "Dune universe" (created by Frank Herbert) style. The legend stated that the Atreides family came from a noble family that originated in Greece on Earth, and that they rose to prominence during the Butlerian Jihad. House Atreides…

Try and figure out how weapons are put on the screen. Find how the weapon mesh is specified, (the name of the variable in the weapon object) and then find the references to that variable. Then one of them is most likely going to be making some kind of actor out of it with a stuck-to-screen property somewhere.
I think your hand rotation is causing the weapon to hitch. The weapon should have it's own controller. The best thing is to use a Biped Prop, then you can set those keys to world rotation. That'll keep the weapon from swaying when the hand twists.
Worked on another weapon for the Gravastar game, in-development by Studio Atma. It's a bit cleaner compared to the other weapon. I think I'll just have another weapon to work on, and that's it. Probably will also help out on some environment assets. https://twitter.com/StudioAtma/status/965086437598113793
Speaking of which, without wanting to go too much OT here, what's the average poly count for a weapon on this gen's games? Like Crysis and UT3? (On screen weapons, not level items or enemies weapons) Just asking, cos damn, 11k sounds alot to me!
After re-reading this entire thread pior is spot on, leaving one error to focus on another merely compounds a veritable litany of mistakes. Please listen and readjust your thinking/attitude, in my experience fanned caps would've been acceptable 5yrs ago however tech evolves with new (well probably rediscovering old…
Since this weapon would be gold plated, and not made of gold (considering gold is too soft to be a feasible lethal weapon) it could be really cool to see the plating degraded or flaked off along where the blade has been sharpened and in combat. This would give the weapon a lot of character.
vehicle choice could drastic change a weapons effectiveness, ie single shot powerfull weapon would be shit in a car with hard suspension. while a really powerfull weapon in a small light vehicle could have some really rockin kickback. sounds fun if it was propperly dynamic
