hello guys, quick update. I decided to make an extra room in my metro. It's a kind of control room. Here are some flat renders with some wireframe. The whole scene is 77 000 polygons now, and just only that room is 25 000 polygons. Feel free to give me criticism :) ! Next step is texturing!
The major difference between asset/environment modeling and character modeling is lower amount of polygons and that the model does not have to connect to be one mesh. There is no rigging required and no weight painting so the polygons do not have to connect. It is important to avoid faces with more than 4 verts because it…
Yeah but i cant assign 2 materials to a single polygon. My lamp has those jagged edges at the bottom of the glass but the lowpoly is just a flat polygon there. I was expecting alpha to work like it usually does so that i could use it to mask off areas that i wanted to be transparent but that doesnt seem to work? Or is…
For a sense of better weighting with less complex, more balanced color and shape, look at the polygon logo - the way the shape flows, the proportions of the logo compared to the text and the way these things align, and the simplicity of the single font single word text. Seems like the polygon logo is exactly what you're…
@Winstone Great advice, thank you for pointing that out and for the paintover! I wasn't able to delete some of the polygons at the top because it was removing parts of my texture, but I deleted the polygons at the bottom. @Alemja I am glad they look better, thank you and I really appreciate all of your help throughout this…
Thanks again for all the feedback! Made some more changes. -Head is wider -Legs are thicker -Torso is thinner -Shoulders are less broad (and removed a row of polygons) -Arms are longer -I think I added some proper deformation to the knees. -Made the chest less flat -Removed a lot of polygons where they weren't needed.
I've been playing around with various sweepline algorithms for finding 2d polygon intersections, and everyone I've tried has missed an intersection or two/three/four.... but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason (not that i've found to date) as to why e.g. ..... is it an elegant but ultimately failed solution ?…
First off, I want to thank everyone who has been commenting on my work and progress both in the WAYWO thread and though PMs and even reaching out on their own to me to make comments and feedback. I really appreciate it, and am actually really surprised to see the community helping in this way, so thanks again! @vendetti…
hello guys how you doing? I’ve got a dell precision workstation T5610 and I’m having troubles while modeling/doing 3d stuff I am working using maya 2k18 on a model with roughly 6.5 millions polygons and this is proving a rather bad modeling experience. Firs orbiting is so slow. When I open windows it takes like forever not…
I'm creating a high polygon grass tillable texture and have made all my variations of grass, the problem is when object painting I get a lot of overlapping polygons. Would anyone know of any magic that somehow selects an object that is intersecting another and deletes it? I tried script-spot and the usual searches but came…
