Hey all, I've been working with Zbrush for a couple months now and have been recently reworking and toying with preferences and settings to customize the software to my liking. Every time I see a tutorial or a speed paint it seems as though people have different settings that work well for them in terms of tablet pressure…
i prefer doing my vertex colors in Z as polypaint vs the finicky interface found elsewhere and baking to bitmap is not an option for this use case. i had no trouble locating a maxscript via google that reads zbrush's polypaint and imports the OBJ without further ado. disclaimer: i had to alter it so it would not create a…
Just a shot in the dark but try the Go-Z option, hopefully it allows you to bring it into another application, then you can at least save the work and a stable format. Then make a new document add in each piece or I would save a new ZTL of each piece for safety reasons then save one with them all together. I'd probably…
Aha...I think I see what's going wrong. When I said "scale", I actually meant resizing your model, and I'm not sure that the scale widget does this in the way you'd expect. Try this instead - make sure you're in "edit" mode, then go to tool>deformation and slide the "size" slider all the way up a couple of times, making…
The grout is too flat. You should create a zgrabdepth heightmap of your texture, apply it as a mask to a 1:1 plane, and blur it. Then subtly apply a displacement to the plane (either in or out - experiment) and then drop the plane with the displacement to a pixol layer, which you then move along Z as needed. You can also…
Well then just ask yourself why ... You don't have to use the standard brush at high settings all the time. Maybe grab a piece of real clay and play with it. You'll soon realize that most of the time you are not adding clay, but naturally, you are mostly pushing and pulling things. So do just that in Z : push and pull…
This thread is old but Cyrid, your advices are helpful "through time" ! I tried this S.Pivot a few times and couldn't figure out how it worked. Well now I know. And that's a f...king great option in ZB : one more ! :) Thanks dood. Edit : This being said, I tried a bit and S.Pivot resets temporarily the center of an object…
using goz helped a bit, now it seems that some of the the faces are displaying correctly, but other still seem pixelated or detached. optimize points order sounds promising but it requires the model to have no subdivisions. i tried to just delete the lower sub divs and then optimize the points order but my computer freezes…
Thanks for the responses everyone! Thanks Eric! :) That's a great point and it’s something I am learning now. On a positive note, I am having a lot more fun now that I get to work on my own things, even though I am making negative money doing it lol… Zetheros, I still don’t know how bad it is. I just interviewed for a few…
