Very sharp looking stuff. I can tell you put a lot of thought into things like clean topology and making your tools easy to use. My main question would just be what role you're looking to get into? Your portfolio seems to be split between weapon art and tech art, which, lots of indie studios could use a generalist who does…
"see a hell lot of tutorials for blender, but realised it doesnt help much for industry standards" parroting sheer nonsense. friends and senior artists I know of do work with FOSS on tent pole film and AAA game productions - heed oglu's advice, instead!
Thanks for comment. I use DirectX for it. I know the bake looks bad right now. I just want to know if polycount is right. I will work on it and remake the bake. And yeah, this asset is modeled for first person AAA intentions.
Sometimes I wonder for the people who feel this way, that Indies don't exist in their philosophy. Games like NS2 are an aberration versus a sign of a new outlook coming. Skankerzero is an example here proving that the corporate A/AAA is not our only choice.
Next-gen stuff has never attracted me, but I find I am doing more and more of it (which is natural in the AAA industry). That's why I'm going indie! I like lower-poly stuff with lots of painting.
That's awesome! My only criticism is that some of the upright timbers look quite straight, but that's not really a deal breaker. The overall composition and the lighting really create a fantastic atmosphere - and to me that's what counts (especially when this looks pretty much AAA).
awesome progress daphz! i'm realy loving your character, she really gives me the idea of a "deadly lady"... being bottom heavy but with nice curves and the strong expression with gentle eyes ...aaa you got me xD
For him to email me and tell me how bad my portfolio is. Sure let us look at his "teaser" images for his upcoming AAA game :) Wait... he's been ripping people off and broke for 4 years?
its good buisness model, but bad for fans... would love to see a ground breaking AAA game from nintendo, but i dont think its going to happen... they will test stuff out on handhelds where its cheaper and quicker
Thanks for the kind words and feedback everyone, we really appreciate it! I have to admit it's so much fun and refreshing to work in an art style like this after 8 years of mostly doing high-end, AAA quality assets.
