Looking forward to it matey. If you're just looking to do a diffuse only model then I would go with 3DC. If you wanna PBR it and make it look nice and lit, then better to go Substance, imo. Enjoy
The software brush feel rocks. but hardware-locked licenses... sorry i dont like it. I prefer 3DC license system or substance painter personal key. If the lic system change, i buy it for sure.
Is there a solution for making tileable textures with this? Similar to how you would in Zbrush or 3DC. Where the sides repeat, so when you bake/transfer you're normal map tiles correctly?
I thought I'd share my current WIP. Done start to finish (so far) in 3DC, soon time to export to LightWave for rendering, maybe a little hair. BTW the poly count here is 195,264 or 3,051 with a displacement map.
3dcoat is great for 3d painting. I don't use projection painting though, what I love about 3dc is how the brushes actually work directly on the texels. You can even do 1px-type stuff, depending on your unwrap.
Here's a assault rifle design I've done in 3D-Coat over the weekend. Still not completely finalized. I've recorded the entire process and now putting together a free video on hardsurface voxel modelling in 3DC.
