Hey, this model's cool. But I actually have a couple technical questions for you. What app did you create this in? And how'd you find putting your own model into HL2? I'm thinking about doing some level props and use HL2 to showcase them. If you could point me to some websites that'd be awesome. I use 3DSMax.
Could you maybe hint me a link that would be great. @Piar Yes iam not rly experienced with MentalRay yet and couldnt find anything on beauty renders for games. Will check it out. Last but not least can Marmoset render out wireframe passes? Or any other realtime engine if i want to showcase it in Realtime aswell? Thanks…
Shrug... it was used to showcase how dynamic subdivisions can quickly be used within Zbrush. Probably a fault of the artist not so much the application. You can see the specific clip regarding the making of that here: http://youtu.be/C3KK9ym-F84?t=42m54s This is a better example using the same features as above, but its…
This might be the wrong thread for this. Sketchbooks are more about gradual critique of multiple projects and a place for people to showcase their own art, not just for individual projects. If anything, you could rename the thread as "Sketchbook: Irobles99" and post more progress of your mech and anything else that you do,…
Sounds like a good idea. Some personal suggestions/thoughts: 1) In my oppinion a project the purpose of which is artistic showcase will not depend much on how well the top-down plan is thought (if any at all). The impression from such enviro is mostly affected by a different kind of composition. This is "view composition",…
Hi, thanks a lot for the information and the link! Do you think that method would be impressive to showcase on a portfolio? Or do you think companies would prefer to see trees modeled from scratch? Ideally I'd like to create trees and foliage the way most companies in the high-poly industry create them, while also adding…
It looks all nice and neat. My only complaint is that they renders of your art in the 3D section seem to be copied and pasted together into their showcase image. A little bit of photoshop could put a common background (even just a circular gradient would do) behind them to keep it from just being bland grey backgrounds…
Whoa thank you guys to: Dimfist Stevenson09 Fingus I'm not going to give up on this concept but I will take a break from it and start modeling other concepts to better myself as a character artist. Oh and a quick question. Would I be able to put a model that I finished from someone else's concept and showcase it on my…
My intentiion for the quick prototype was just to give you a leg up on deciding if and how the approach could work for you, then of course you go back in and build everything yourself for the training/portfolio showcase. Given time and materials, it's always nice to take a dry run at things to learn "what you don't know"…
Don't be afraid to try stuff out on your own. I'd suggest finding concept art and trying to replicate it. Polycount has both a character and environment challenge every 2 months which I'd highly suggest joining; they're in the 3D Showcase section. If you've done a ton of tutorials, it might be time to step out of the…
