I bought the game for 15$ as well. I think the game worth each cent, and i love to support these kind of great devs. Starbound is a jewel for me, one of those game you can replay several times.
Here is my submission for the 3rd Speed Art Challenge. Time: 1 hour, 15 min. The key words made me think of a fortune cookie joke a made a while back. Enjoy. Comments and Critiques are welcome of course.
it's a really simple object, just go for it man, couldn't take more than 10-15 minutes. Do a quick test texture and you'll find the trouble areas you'll have to redo. There's no reason to avoid overlapping UVs.
lol, it looks like a great tutorial.. ill have to wait till i can pay £15 before i watch it though :( for now I need to hunt down info on breaking up my textures :P
did you looked into the help files? it seems to be covering the subject pretty well http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/MAXScript-Help/index.html?url=files/GUID-EC33589D-822A-4E79-9682-185EC5DBAB9F.htm,topicNumber=d30e104121
Thanks! Been experimenting with dark polymer and metal base textures. I think the polymer came out alright, but the metal is not where I want it. Should probably be a darker diffuse to better match the look of AR-15 metal.
I noticed in the above thread that a few people mentioned most will quit the industry 10-15 years in. Do they mean go free-lance or just quit games all together? Where else do these skills apply?
Do you mean the Euler Filter? I haven't use Motion Builder in a long time. http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/files/GUID-01BDE1CF-C3C4-4D71-8A5E-3D18D9082325.htm
Someone just asked me where the decimal setting is. It's the Precision spinner, here in the General tab: http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/files/GUID-33D130C4-9A18-485D-B80B-49BADE863542.htm
