The Pelt Wrap equivalent is the Smooth UV Tool in Maya. UV Texture Editor Window > Tool > Smooth UV Tool A small UI element will appear next to your selected UVs, labeled Unfold and Relax. Left click and hold, and drag to the right to tick through the smoothing calculations. If you want to retain a shape, you can "pin" UVs…
In maya I use Roadkill, shame it's not being actively developed anymore. It's straighten-unwrap is fantastic for easy to manage UV's. Unfold3D looks like a real contender to UVLayout, going to check it out soon: http://www.polygonal-design.fr/e_unfold/index.php
Try starting with Roadkill for a pure LCSM workflow. If that's too basic you could try Blender. http://www.pullin-shapes.co.uk/page8.htm On the upper end, Unfold3D is very nice, but might be overkill for your needs. http://www.polygonal-design.fr/e_unfold/
thanx for comments! great to read some good words SEKNeox- sometimes You have to "distort" your UVs for save space or just for better shells arrangement, unfold3d uwraped uvs perfectly- I modified pants on my own becouse of jacket Cheer!
modeled in maya, unwrapped in unfold3d, base texture in zbrush, more texture work in painter 9. More of an expiriment, especially with rigging and weight painting. Also just a fun style to try. My first real addition to the low poly thread. Plan to animate this :D edit:
other than the obvious must have's (main 3d app: max/maya, 2D app: PS, sculpt app: ZB) to do your work... wScite, adblock, xnview, crazybump, nvidia normal map plugins, nDo, filetexturemanager (maya), idlm (take that slow network!), unfold3D
Hello everybody, i would like some feedback on my new project, i did some post on it to try to show how it would look like at the end. I'm looking for some feedback to make it better. Thanks. I'm using Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Nuke, Unfold3D, Marvelous Designer, Mari and Arnold Render.

Coming from Maya, I find the UV editing in Blender quite effective but a lot is still missing: For example, in version 2.81, there is no grid. In version 2.82, the grid is available to be able to view the different UDIMs, but the number of subdivisions cannot be changed. There is also no way to snap uvs on the grid.…
I'm proud to present you The Worm. Long time ago I was working on highpoly of this guy for cinematic and now decided to finish it as a realtime model. Higpoly done in Zbrush, Topogun for retopology, Unfold3D for UVs, textured entirely in Substance Painter, presentation in Marmoset 3 (Special thanks for this amazing…
