But I bet he can draw realistic, he probably just opted for that style as it was more expressive. My wife is a good cartoonist and has a very loose style, but she can draw superb realistic stuff too. To be fair you did say 'I don't think anyone should have to be good at art to go to art school'
eh while I don't disagree with chris that the 3rd shot is the most realistic, I'd say that the 1st one has the most STYLE. which I think is worth considering... in environmental scenes like these, where the setting is very realistic and gritty and busted, lighting and atmosphere are your chances to add some real character.…
PogoP, not sure if this has been recommended yet, but can you get some light from the flaming meteors to cast upwards on the cloud later? Only on the ones that are still up higher in the atmosphere, of course. I think that would help sell the giant flaming meteor, although I'm not sure if that's realistic, it's not exactly…
Nice work and its one of the better organized Blogspot portfolios I've seen. Your game art work is all stylized and the prerendered stuff is a mix of both realistic and stylized. If it interests you and you want to work at a company that does more realistic game art I suggest making some! You've got the skills to do it!
that was my theory too, pior, and I really, really hope that's the case... but I doubt it. I've seen far too many consumers bitch about products because they weren't 'realistic' looking, even if realistic means noisy and fuck ugly textures... there's always going to be companies that simply shoot for that even if they…
You won't see normal maps in the max2012 realistic viewport unless you're running a Geforce300 or better. It really depends on what you'll be doing in max? Are you going to be using realistic mode with meshes that are in the millions of polys and complex shaders with complex light setups? Or Do you not care about viewport…
@hawken, polyhertz: thanks! @df0024: i will animate them first.. depending on the feel of them ingame i'll decide if i go for a realistic or more stylized texturing approach. i finished texturing the berserk and the warlock, but im a bit unsure if the realistic approach fits the style of gameplay: what do you think about…
No problem man. Sounds like the next course of action might be to just start a new model then and call this done for now. I suggest you do something realistic. On the surface realistic can sound sort of boring, but if you do a really good job with it, you will find its awesome and rewarding! Example awesome art:
@Pep_mepla nice progress. What kind of style do you have in mind for the asset? More on the realistic or more on the stylized side? For realistic, I think the textures are currently too simple. Keep it up! Finally found time to do something for this challenge too. As always, very interesting to see different…
I wanted to share a recent experience that proves that hiring doesn't always come down to ones portfolio or profile and transparency in a company's standing and hiring process could be improved. Its a challenging time in the industry so even if there's interest it may not necessarily mean that the company is actually…
