There are a lot of really good comments and suggestions here, but I feel the need to say that I was in this position as well not too long ago! I'm 25, and worked retail since I was 16 which also left me socially exhausted and burnt out. I felt the guilt of not knowing if you'll ever be good enough, or if you are making the…
It's a bit pedantic but 'How was it done?' and 'How can it be done?' are two different questions. How was it done? Likely sculpted in Zbrush. Probably using a combination of custom alphas and brushes for the smaller details. (Possibly incorporating some remeshing or retopology steps to refine the larger shapes.) Sculpting…
My normal maps exported out of substance painter are inverted when applied to the standard shader in Unity. In Substance Painter the details of the shoe are raised up from the surface: And in unity, the normal map is pushing the same details into the mesh. I see this issue has cropped up for others, and the solution always…
Hey everyone! So I'm going back to a project showcased on my portfolio to beef it up. I want to take it and push it farther. This is the Horde Clock Tower - which can be found here. http://www.jacobwheatga.com/projects/Z4lr1 I have been really trying to push the shape and silhouette of the model to more resemble what it's…
You already have your maps to create a good base for crazybump. What ever you want to make push down you put to something dark and what ever you want to push up you make lighter.. Then use the heightmap option.. Try the different sliders out. You can load your model so that you can get a good feel for how it will turn out.
I think for me, this feels like a base to jump off stylistically, i.e. you have the idea there it just needs a push in one direction or another. Personally I'd like to see you twist the idea more and really push the evil. more twist and crackliness on the horns, make her more gaunt, even snobbish. Really make the viewer…
world machine gives you much more realistic effects then you just sculpting it, plus you can use each bit of generated effect to push out different maps that you can use as masks for your texture work. Some of the maps it pushed out are way to soft for the revolution we are talking about tho. I mean the detail in the AO…
Yes, the top 4 are personal works, the rest are all of a single project for the company I currently work for. I have been working there for a couple of years now, but the only images that I thought pushed the things I wanted to push where these. I would have liked to put up some others but they are under NDA and are for a…
you can also set edge constraint on and push the connected edges to the outer edge then push back in and they will be the same distance from the outer edge all the way along. tho this may not work in some scenarios and the inset would work better. using extrude on the edge may work for you as well edit: and i just saw that…
First thing that comes to mind is a definitive lack of specular reflections as well as a lack of specular highlights in your diffuse channel. Don't be afraid to bump up that spec and even push your normals in your materials. Your modeling is great, but look at those reference images. The lighting is very dynamic and what…
