Okay some more tests.. made a normal map and put it on a decal actor so I could break up some of the repetition without using a new mesh. It has to be a flat surface because the decal uses planar projection and it stretches over curved surfaces. also shading is kinda messed up apparently I need to enable DBuffer in UE4 so… -

Yes, sounds like you're on the right track. Your basemesh should be 100% quads, and try to avoid "poles" of 5+ edges running into each other since that can lead to "pinching" in the model when sculpting. Keep the quads a fairly uniform density over the body, and be clever about adding more detail where it will be necessary… -

[Testing] Using Headus to pack Lightmap UV's
Hey guy's, so I'm pretty tired of packing uv's by hand twice for udk. I figured lightmaps is just one of those things that should be auto packed. I got to the 2nd boss battle last night and it looks like they are in fact doing some material tricks for skin. It looks like they're doing a color shift/band as the lighting gets closer to the terminator, this could be just for the primary light. At any rate the 2nd boss battle is amazing.
