Polycount budgest did not drastically increase to the point of you not needing normal maps. Not by a long shot. There a bit higher than last gen but nothing crazy. Look at The Order art dump and you will see that polycounts are still very similar to what last gen was.
You've chosen a realistic style so you really ought to go back over it and make a significant upgrade to the detail level. I actually know very little about what they're up to with next gen. Im destined to work with the PS2 til I die EA Canada seem to be in charge of all the cool next gen stuff so Whargoul might know more about this.

unless console introduce new next gen tech. the graphic quality will be outpaced by multi function devices like handheld/phone or pc in upcoming years living room experience? we will see small phone or next gen handheld nintendo/psp can be ported to hdtv.
i've watched all of gen 1 and collected gen 1 comics for over 100 issues. Transformers comics is what made me want to be an artist. Don't think you have any idea what i know or don't know. i'm just not an obsessive fanboy
S-S another great model for current gen stuff , but I think if you are looking for work you should be conentrating on making some NEXT-GEN level characters or enviro props cause that seems to be were the jobs are right now as far as I can tell .
lets say i wanna make a FPS/Third Person Shooter game using UDK... What is the MIN Tri count for a next gen game and the MAX tri count for a Next Gen game? i know it may be pretty obvious answers but i dont know them
