This is true. However the training and apptitude to be a nurse vs a surgeon is pretty large gap. 3D art takes a lot of dedication, skill and talent and isn't rewarded the same way. However I understand why. Perhaps as technology increases and VR / AR hits the mainstream the market will demand more artists.
Just based on my own recent personal experience, its a lot harder to get away with shader tricks with VR. I'm finding myself even modeling things where I would have used a normal map because the illusion breaks a lot easier.
I think we're going to have lawyers vrs the gameindustry things going on for some time...I'd rather have Jack Thompson, a man who has proved his incompetence repeatedly, than someone who actually knows what they are doing in the opposite corner.
http://romanyukart.com/store/sniper/ Sniper from the project vr shooter. Last year I received the task to make several author characters. In the near future I will lay out the rest, as well as models with textures. More information can be found on the website. Part of the armor for the character used from the armor store…
http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/retinal-detachment/home/ovc-20197289 Don't stare at the blue LED light! That's just for the Cintiq's...no info so far with VR visors. Yeah, what happens if 3D-4K-120fps hit your eyeballs for long periods of time.
Well, it isn't a game company, but they do make models for game engines and VR too. I hope it's gonna be okay. I made it to the second part of the interview which is going to be done in person. So far, it was just a quick Skype call that turned out great. Thank you for your comment.
@3DMad Thank you man I really appreciate it :) I have some really sweet things planned for 2017, thanks to the amazing folks at Epic...I have been awarded an Unreal VR game dev grant so i will be working towards creating a game :)
Just specialize and focus your portfolio on Star Wars specific content (characters, droids, from art books). You do that you should have at least a shot at getting at least "a job" (game, film, vr, toy, theme park) sometime in the next 10 years.
Some Work from a game project at futuregames from a few months ago. It's a vr horror game where mankikins comes to life and attack you. Here are some progress pictures from the development and how it changed. we ended with something pretty close to the last pictures.
*sniff* I smell the sweet fragrance of burning bridges (top few posts) Keep those vacancies open for another 2 years, please... Actually, by then we'll all be wearing VR helmets and sculpting in Zbrush 5.5 with glove-manipulators. Or something. *hurries his degree along*
